Firefighters worked to bring a slow-moving grass fire at Bangholme under control at 5.50pm this afternoon.
CFA was called to the incident on Pillars Road at 3.50pm.
The 2.5 hectare fire burnt in a paddock which is difficult to access making it challenging for crews on the ground.
20 trucks were on scene which also included assistance from MFB. One water-bombing aircraft provided support in tackling the blaze.
A Watch and Act warning to nearby residents was downgraded to an Advice message at 6pm.
Speaking during the incident, CFA District 8 Operations Officer Greg Christison said the fire had moved in a north-easterly direction.
“The fire is producing a lot of smoke in the area, particularly across the nearby Frankston freeway,” he said.
“We’ve issued a Watch and Act to residents on Pillars Road and we’ve advised they leave their properties.”
More details on the Watch and Act can be found here.
