Bannockburn church fire

CFA crews attended a fire at a historic catholic church in Bannockburn overnight.

The High Street building was well alight prior to the arrival of crews at around 4.15am.

Incident Controller Barry Planner said it took crews around one hour to bring the fire under control.

“This church was over 100 years old and crews did an excellent job of containing the fire,” he said.

Fire investigators will attend the scene today to determine a cause.

Four trucks from Corio, Lethbridge and Bannockburn attended.
