Brigades pay tribute to ANZACs

Riddells Creek Fire Brigade had an amazing turn out as they hosted their community’s dawn service for the fifth year.

“A lot of hard work goes into organising this service each year, but having the support of our whole community while we pay our respects to the ANZACs makes it completely worth it."

Members of Cardigan/Windermere brigade and crews from Lucas Fire Brigade joined about 60 people at a ceremony to honour the 50 Ballarat firefighters who served in WWI.

The short service was conducted by brigade President Jim Hare.

Mossi-Tambo members together with members from Bruthen Fire Brigade were part of the Anzac Day ceremony in Bruthen.

“A lovely and moving ceremony was presented to the community by Captain Nicholas from Bruthen Brigade, with contributions from many community groups and individuals.

“We had the honour of laying a wreath on behalf of the entire Mossi-Tambo brigade.”

Eildon Fire Brigade proudly marched from the station led by Captain Nicki Lund on her Friesian Stallion Agamemnon (pictured above).  

Mount Macedon brigade members also turned out to their community’s dawn service to pay their respects to those who have served.

At Torquay, Connewarre Captain Leigh Wicks placed a wreath on behalf of the brigade, before hosting a breakfast for members and their families. 

Malmsbury brigade members also participated in laying a wreath and assisted with safety at the community event.

“The march and service always highlights what a special and close-knit community we are in Malmsbury. Well done to the organisers for delivering yet another moving event which gets bigger every year!”

Dromana members prepared breakfast for diggers at their local RSL’s Gunfire Breakfast - something they’ve been doing each Anzac Day for the past 35 years.
