Just after 9.30pm on Thursday night (29th December), Caroline Springs Fire Brigade, along with MFB crews from St Albans and Taylors Lakes, responded to a reported house fire in Caroline Springs.

Due to the several calls being received for the fire, and the additional information being relayed to responding appliances from Vicfire, Station Officer Saliba from Caroline Springs upgraded the response to "Make pumpers four and respond a Teleboom".

On scene, firefighters got to work conducting a primary search of the house while tackling the fire, being mindful that there may be people still inside the house. Due to their quick work, firefighters were able to rescue one casualty, as well as a number of pets, with oxygen and water being administered to them.

Unfortunately, one other person succumbed to their injuries.

Due to the extreme heat and humidity of the night, additional resources from Melton and Sunbury were also responded, with Greenvale Pumper 'stepped-up' to Caroline Springs Fire Station to maintain their fire coverage in case of other calls in the area.
