Casterton fire agencies join forces

CFA and DELWP recently joined forces to conduct a burnoff at Casterton.

Brigades from the Casterton, Corndale, Sandford, Wando Vale and Dunrobin & Nangeela annually burn the roadside area as part of the Glenelg Shire Fire Prevention Plan.

This summer, staff and equipment from the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) Casterton Office also assisted with the burnoff. This was an opportunity for members of the fire agencies to get to know each other and practise their skills.

Casterton Fire Brigade also hosted a games night in late November to meet the DELWP summer crew staff prior to the start of the fire season. This is an annual event which sees both agencies vying for naming rights on a perpetual shield.
