CFA at Regional Living Expo

CFA will be attending the Regional Living Expo 1 to 3 May, a free event at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.

The Regional Living Expo offers Melbourne residents and businesses all the information they need when considering relocating to regional and rural Victoria, including promotion of specific job and career opportunities.

CFA will be there with some valuable information regarding fire safety and career and volunteer options.

Career firefighters work closely with CFA volunteers to protect lives and property in Victoria. There are challenging and rewarding roles with a lot of variety and great opportunities for career progression. Come and talk to our recruitment experts to find out your options or hear what it is like to be a volunteer straight from a volunteer’s mouth.

If you are thinking about building, renovating or landscaping in Country Victoria, CFA staff will be available to provide advice on the state’s planning and building rules in high bushfire risk areas.

The state’s planning and building regulations have special requirements for new homes and large extensions in bushfire risk areas. To build a new home in these areas a planning permit is required.  CFA provides expert bushfire advice to councils prior to them issuing a permit and can help you out with advice to ensure your building will be properly constructed, have the appropriate defendable space and be provided with suitable access and water.

The Property Advice Services (PAS) trailer will be also be there, showing examples of an under-prepared home and a well-prepared property going into the fire season.
