Deputy Chief Officer Garry Cook and Captain of Kalorama Fire Brigade, Michael Motteram, were invited to start the match with a ceremonial puck drop.

The match was played in front of a sold-out crowd of 1600, who showed their respect ahead of the match with a minute of applause.

The puck was custom designed to acknowledge the firefighting efforts of those who have worked tirelessly across Australia this summer.

Commemorative hockey pucks and player jerseys were auctioned to fans with all proceeds going to bushfire relief. Combined with the proceeds from a raffle and entry fees the event raised $41,100.
