CFA band to rock 'The Burv'

CFA band The Red Austins has organised an 'end-of-fire-season' gig at The Burvale on Friday 15 May for local staff, volunteers, friends, family and anyone else who wants to come along.

WHEN: Friday 15 May 2015 from 6pm to late(ish)

WHERE: The Burvale Hotel, corner of Springvale Rd and Burwood Hwy, Nunawading.

The Red Austins formed 18 months ago and have played at various community and CFA events including the Lakes Entrance New Year's Eve celebrations, the Docklands Jubilation event, the Good Friday Appeal Family Day Out, and the Beechworth Golden Horseshoes Festival.

Band manager (CFA's Digital Media Manager and Pt Cook volunteer) Martin Anderson said the band hope the night will be an opportunity for staff and volunteers from nearby brigades to let their hair down and enjoy some great covers from the 1960s through to the current day.

"We all volunteer our time to rehearse and perform at community and CFA events because we love the opportunity to give something back," he said.

"All the band members are HQ staff and some are also volunteers so we understand the time and commitment that CFA members give to protecting the community. This is just a small way that we have to say thanks after another bushfire season and, of course, indulge our middle-aged rockstar fantasies!"
