CFA crews attend Wollert trench rescue incident

CFA responded to a report of a trench rescue incident in Wollert at 8.31am.

Seven CFA vehicles from Wollert, Plenty, Epping and Craigieburn were on scene.

Upon arrival, crews observed a person that had fallen around eight metres into a trench.

MFB, Ambulance Victoria, SES and Victoria Police were also on scene.

The incident was listed as under control at 8.45am.

SES Nillumbik Unit responded as part of the multi-agency technical rescue crew.

Crews entered the trench using a secure ladder to provide support to the patient.

CFA crews prepared to conduct a steep angle rescue operation, however the patient was able to self-extricate.

The patient self-extricated with support from an onsite crane mechanism at 9.08am and was handed over to paramedics.

A stop was issued on the incident at 9.10am and was handed over to Victoria Police and WorkSafe.
