CFA crews praised for efforts

CFA firefighters have been praised for their efforts in protecting lives and property during major bushfires this week.

Tuesday was a huge day for Victorian emergency services with over 600 fires recorded across the state.

During the day, 13 Emergency Warnings, 20 Watch and Acts and 47 Advice messages were issued.

More than 650 firefighters from various agencies have been involved in fighting fires since Tuesday.

At a community meeting in Lancefield yesterday, CFA crews were thanked by the local community for saving homes in the area.

Despite cooler conditions than yesterday, two fires are continuing to challenge crews. It's hoped that if conditions are favourable today, the Lancefield fire could be contained by tonight.

The 7 News helicopter captured an image of one householder who had written a thank you message in large letters on the roof of their saved home. Other images were shared on Brigade Facebook pages.
