CFA firefighters suffer minor injury, illness

CFA is offering support to two volunteer firefighters and their families, after the men suffered minor injury and illness in the course of their work fighting fires today.

A firefighter received minor burns to his face while fighting a grassfire at Chintin near the Macedon Ranges.

The burns were superficial, and the firefighter was subsequently transported to hospital by private car.

In South Australia, a CFA firefighter on deployment was taken to the Royal Adelaide hospital by ambulance after becoming unwell.

It’s understood that his condition is not serious and the illness was not a direct result of firefighting activities.

CFA will examine the circumstances surrounding both incidents.

While firefighting is an inherently dangerous practice, CFA takes a ‘safety first’ approach at all times.

The health and safety of its members is CFA’s highest priority.
