CFA helps remove patient from ship

CFA crews assisted Ambulance Victoria to lift a person from a ship docked at North Shore in Geelong this afternoon.

CFA Incident Controller Steve Alcock said firefighters were called just before 1pm to assist with lifting a patient from the ship to ground level.

It’s understood that a person had fallen ill.

“The ship had very narrow walk ways so an extrication was planned using the Ladder Platform,” he said.

The patient was treated by Ambulance Victoria paramedics. Paramedics assessed a male believed to be in his 60s who is in a serious but stable condition. He's been taken to Geelong hospital.

CFA crews from Corio and Geelong were on scene for around an hour.
