CFA brigades have paid their respects to Australia's past and present defence force personnel, participating in Anzac Day services across the state.

Members across Victoria attended services, laying wreaths and taking part in a moment of silence to remember those who have fallen.

For the past five years, Ballan Fire Brigade has been commemorating Anzac Day by hosting an annual Gunfire Breakfast for 200 to 400 people.

Developed as a way for the local community to recognise the sacrifices made by veterans, the event also raises money for the Ballan RSL

“The event is a good demonstration of CFA's values and putting the community at the centre of everything we do," Captain Ben Hadfield said.

"It’s our way of showing national pride and our sense of community. It helps people embrace both in a simple way.”
