CFA members raise over $1 million for the 2021 Good Friday Appeal

Message from Chief Officer Jason Heffernan

Raising money during the Good Friday Appeal is a staple of CFA’s identity among Victorian communities. Many have memories of riding the fire truck and greeting members as they come past, sharing the joy of hearing the siren and seeing the flashing lights.

That is why for me it was an honour to present this year’s cheque alongside members from Berwick and Narre Warren fire brigades to the Royal Children’s Hospital on behalf of all CFA members.

CFA members raised an enormous $1,028,328 for the Royal Children’s Hospital, which will be used to buy medical equipment and ensure kids are provided with the best possible treatment and care.

This year was a huge milestone for CFA, celebrating 70 years of support of the Good Friday Appeal. During that time CFA members have raised more than $35 million in donations.

Last year it was great to see so many of our members adapting to collecting donations virtually. However, I know our members were excited to be able to collect in-person donations this year, tin rattling at traffic lights and door knocking across their communities in a COVID safe manner.

It was amazing to see some of our members from Bayswater Brigade visiting some of the kids at the Royal Children's Hospital on Good Friday.

The Royal Children’s Hospital presented CFA with a plaque to celebrate our 70 years of partnership.

Congratulations to all of our CFA members involved in raising funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital - it was another fantastic effort and you and your communities should be proud.

This result is a testament to our members who not only put their communities first by protecting lives and property, but also raising much needed funds for this important cause.
