CFA and Latrobe University have partnered together to recognise and encourage community leadership among Victoria’s youth.
The official agreement recognises and strengthens the work of CFA as one of the largest non-TAFE Registered Training Organisations in the Southern Hemisphere.
Students who demonstrate a commitment to community service through CFA membership are uniquely placed for enrolment into tertiary education via Latrobe University’s Aspire program.
The Aspire Early Admissions Program is an initiative open to Year 12 school leavers, which acknowledges volunteering efforts as the basis of enrolment assessment.
CFA and Latrobe University will also work together to support and offer volunteer opportunities for both students and staff across all Latrobe University Campuses.
CFA Chief Executive Officer Michael Wootten said both operational and support role volunteer opportunities are available right across CFA, as we look to expand diversity.
“This partnership will encourage more students to consider the benefits of volunteering and even a career path with CFA,” Mr Wootten said.
“This is a milestone opportunity for young Victorians wanting to make a real contribution to their community.
“The partnership will also allow current CFA members to be supported in continuing their commitment as a volunteer throughout their studies.
“We are working together with Latrobe University to support young Victorians to be community leaders into the future.
“Volunteers are the lifeblood of CFA, with more than 1,200 brigades across the state; the skills and leadership development acquired is priceless.”
CFA is one of the world’s largest volunteer-based emergency service organisations, with close to 60,000 members – of which 3,300 are under the age of 18.
