CFA says thanks a million" to Ritchies"

CFA is thanking Ritchies for its multi-million dollar donation to CFA by holding BBQs and education displays during the month of November at various Ritchies stores across Victoria.

Ritchies is Australia’s largest independent supermarket chain, a company where staff have a share in the company and their founder’s 'shilling for every pound' offer has grown into the Community Benefit Program.

Since the Community Benefit Program began in 1993, more than $2.5 million has been donated to CFA brigades across the state.

CFA Acting Chief Executive Officer Michael Wootten said CFA is very appreciative of the support Ritchies continues to give our brigades.

“The program has benefited many CFA members and brigades by helping brigades buy equipment, purchase brigade-owned vehicles and upgrade facilities,” he said.

“This means brigades spend less time fundraising for additional items and equipment and more time focusing on community engagement and education, which is very important to us this time of year.”

Ritchies’ Chief Executive Officer Fred Harrison said, “CFA performs extraordinary services in assisting communities in times of need and we are delighted to assist through our Community Benefit Program”.

CFA is encouraging the community to visit their local Ritchies store and have a chat with local CFA members.

During November, Ritchies stores will also display fire safety posters and have fire safety brochures available on counters for people wanting to get prepared for the upcoming fire season.
