CFA is proud again to be a supporter of Cultural Diversity Week from 14-22 March 2015.
Cultural Diversity Week provides an opportunity for all Victorians to celebrate our rich cultural, linguistic and religious diversity.
Every year, the Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) hosts Cultural Diversity Week, which includes the Viva Victoria Multicultural Festival on 22 March.
The Viva festival is a free community and family friendly event from 12pm-6pm at Federation Square. There will be music, dance, workshops, arts and crafts, food stalls, roving performers, free kids’ activities and much more
Like last year, CFA will take part in the festival by having a joint display with MFB that will have information on home fire safety, grassfire risk and what to do in the event of a grassfire. Brigade members from Truganina and Noble Park will also be on hand to offer information on joining CFA.
April and CK will also be there in the afternoon to perform live on stage and to entertain kids in the Kids Zone. Con Patralis, from MFB says “it is a very busy day, attracting thousands of people and a great way to share what the fire services are all about and what we do in the community.”
CFA will also be supporting and participating in Harmony Fest 2015 in Ballarat on 22 March with a display and information about CFA. The festival will celebrate the music, dance, art and cuisine of various international cultures. The event will run from 12-4 in Alfred Deakin Place, Camp Street, Ballarat.
“CFA acknowledges and celebrates our cultural diversity through participation in a range of events during the course of the week. The events also offer another avenue for the promotion of fire safety messages to the wider Victorian community” said Chief Officer Euan Ferguson.
CFA encourages brigades to contact their local council to tap into events being held during the week or brigades can host their own Cultural Diversity Week event.
