CFA has today announced that Stephanie Rotarangi will become the organisation’s newest Deputy Chief Officer.
Ms Rotarangi comes to CFA from the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, where she has served as Chief Fire Officer since 2016.
CFA CEO Paul Smith said Ms Rotarangi, who is the highest ranked female officer in CFA history, will make an outstanding contribution to the organisation.
“This is a fantastic moment for CFA and for the communities we serve,” Mr Smith said.
“Stephanie comes into the role with a wealth of fire management and operational experience in senior emergency services roles both in Australia and in her native New Zealand.
“She is a highly qualified leader who will strengthen CFA and contribute greatly to making our organisation an emergency service fit for the future.”
In her new role, Ms Rotarangi will be responsible for operational capability, future planning and leadership development.
CFA Chief Officer, Steve Warrington said the appointment of Ms Rotarangi was a huge boost for CFA.
“I am really excited to have someone of Stephanie’s calibre and experience join CFA,” Mr Warrington said.
“Her skillset will enhance our team, both from a cultural change perspective and also with her operational experience and qualifications.
“Stephanie will play a big role in ensuring we can continue to drive the necessary positive change required in CFA, and we greatly look forward to welcoming her to CFA.”
Ms Rotarangi said she was looking forward to joining the CFA team.
“I am so pleased to be joining CFA, and working with the thousands of dedicated volunteer and career firefighters who work tirelessly to keep Victorians safe,” Ms Rotarangi said.
“I have come to know rural and regional Victoria very well in my current role, and I am really looking forward to bringing all my experiences to the organisation.
“CFA has a proud history of serving the community and I cannot wait to work with all CFA people in making the organisation as strong as it can be for the future.”
Ms Rotarangi will join existing Deputy Chief Officers Gavin Freeman, Garry Cook, Alen Slijepcevic, John Haynes and Gregg Paterson in working with Chief Officer Warrington.
