#CFAGFA – Can CFA top $1.8 million?

Preparations for this year’s Good Friday Appeal (GFA) are in full swing, with CFA members across the state gearing up to make the 86th annual appeal the most successful ever.

CFA members have been supporting the GFA for more than 60 years and last year helped collect a record $1.8 million.

Money raised from the GFA goes towards ensuring The Royal Children Hospital continues to offer world-class care, the latest equipment and research to help sick children have the best start in life.

Brigades across the state will again be out in force collecting money for the appeal including a strong presence at traffic intersections, camping grounds, local festivals and door knocking.

The action will kick off at Kids Day Out on Friday at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 10am to 6pm. The centre will be transformed into a fun-filled family festival with carnival rides, art and play, roller skating, teddy bear hospital and much more.

The lawns will be transformed into a sea of red and white colours with two CFA Mobile Engagement Units, a pumper from Bayswater Brigade, Little Pat and Little Lex and fire helmets for the kids.

Families will be treated to a live performance from The Red Austins and April and Captain Koala will be performing their crowd favourite Kids Fire Safety Show.

When the entertainment finishes at 6pm, the action will shift towards the GFA telethon and the final tally being aired on Channel 7.

Be sure to tune in at 11pm when life member from Edithvale Brigade Jim Rankin and his son Operations Manager Allan Rankin represent CFA in presenting the final cheque to the Good Friday Appeal.

Let us know what fundraising activities your brigade will be participating in this Good Friday by posting your stories and photos on CFA News and Media site or share them on Facebook. Also don’t forget to use the hashtag #CFAGFA, all tags will be broadcasted on the MEU big screen at Kids Day Out.

Good luck and happy fundraising!
