Chemical spill at Avalon service station

Fire crews are dealing with a chemical spill which has closed a Geelong bound service station on the Princes Freeway at Avalon.

Four CFA crews from Corio, Lara and Little River are working to isolate the spill of an unknown substance leaking from the rear trailer of a large truck.

Ambulance Victoria is also on scene dealing with people potentially affected by the spill.

CFA was alerted to the incident around 12.45pm this afternoon. The service station will remain closed for some time.
