Chicken factory evacuated

CFA crews have been plucked out of bed in the early hours of Tuesday morning to turn out to an ammonia leak at a chicken factory in Somerville.

CFA crews first responded to the incident just after 2am after the leak was picked up by in-house detectors in a compressor room.

All staff were safely evacuated, and an advice warning was issued to the wider community.

Six CFA vehicles are currently on scene, with support from FRV including a HAZMAT van.
