Message from the CEO/Chief Officer - Good Friday Appeal

I am always humbled and inspired by the continued contribution of our members to the Victorian community - especially in our support of the Good Friday Appeal.

Message

The 2020 Good Friday Appeal was launched in March at the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Since 1951, our members have been rattling tins at traffic lights and attending events to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH).

In the years since, members have raised more than $34 million for the Good Friday Appeal, including last year where an enormous $1.6 million was raised by brigades.

This year has presented all Victorian communities with unprecedented challenges, and right now it may not be possible for people to donate in ways they might normally want to.

I also know so many of you were devastated that you couldn’t support the Appeal in the traditional way because of physical distancing guidelines.

While the way we’re raising funds is different this year, CFA’s passion for the Good Friday Appeal hasn’t wavered, and we’ve seen hundreds of brigades enthusiastically sign up for the Appeal’s Virtual Tin Shake.

In fact, at the time of writing, CFA brigades have already had more than 767 online donations totalling $32,585.

I continue to be extremely proud of the support our members show for the Good Friday Appeal every year, and this year will be no exception.

Let us come together in this difficult time and virtually rattle our tins in our local communities via our social channels.

The Good Friday Appeal is extremely grateful for your contribution, as well as the contribution that Victorians make during these extraordinary times, as am I.

The Appeal is a fundraiser close to the hearts of all CFA members - one that unites us all.

If you are able to donate, however big or small I encourage you to do so - every little bit counts.
