Teaching kids fire safety in Gippsland

Nambrok-Denison Primary School held a Community Day which included VicPol, RAV, Department of Sustainablity, and local agricultural businesses. CFA members from Nambrok and the community education team also took part.

Approximately 100 students listened to lessons on home fire safety, including the importance of having a working smoke alarm in their homes, home fire escape plans and Triple Zero (000) calls. The children were also told to crawl low in smoke and they were given the opportunity to practise the lessons learned in the CFA smoke house.

The children were then given the opportunity to squirt the hose from the Nambrok tanker. These students were bussed in from six regional schools within the Wellington shire to Nambrok to participate in the event.
