Cottage fire at Inverleigh

CFA crews are at the scene of a house fire on the Hamilton Highway at Inverleigh.

District 7 Operations Officer Mark Collins said it appeared the fire started in the roof of a single-storey old miner's cottage.

“The fire is under control. There’s extensive damage in the roof space and smoke and water damage throughout the house," he said.

“Investigations will determine the cause of the fire, but it appears to have started in the roof.”

It is believed the house is unoccupied.

Trucks from Bannockburn, Corio, Gnarwarre, Inverleigh and Winchelsea are attending.
