Cranbourne East house destroyed in fire

A house in Cranbourne East has been destroyed by fire this afternoon (15 Feb).

CFA was called to the Cromwell Lane home around midday and found the single storey brick structure fully involved in fire.

CFA District 8 Operations Officer Paul Carrigg said six CFA vehicles from Cranbourne, Narre Warren, Frankston and Dandenong attended the scene.

“Our firefighters worked hard to control the fire in just over 30 minutes but unfortunately the house was completely destroyed,” he said.

“A man was home at the time the fire broke out but luckily he was able to escape unharmed.”

Mr Carrigg said the cause is believed to be accidental.

Crews will remain on scene for a couple hours blacking out and mopping up.
