CFA crews responded to reports of a factory fire on Knight Court in Kyneton at around 3pm today, 6 January.
10 CFA units responded from Kyneton, Lancefield, Woodend, Malmsbury, Carlsruhe and Tylden, alongside FRV crews.
The fire appears to have started inside the roof space of the double storey meat processing plant.
The structure is approximately 50m x 20m in size.
The fire is causing a large amount of smoke and an advice message was issued for Kyneton on VicEmergency.
Approximately 50 people were safely evacuated.
Crews conducted an internal fire attack inside the roof space.
Crews have successfully extinguished the seat of the fire and have contained the impacted area to the roof space.
Just after 4pm crews commenced an external fire attack on the premises.
The incidnet was declared under control at 4.22pm.
Firefighters will be on scene for some time to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.
The scene was declared safe at around 5.32pm.
