Crews control grass fire in Colbinabbin

CFA responded to reports of multiple grass fires spreading on Bendigo-Murchison Road in Colbinabbin at 3.13pm, 30 December.


There were 31 CFA units which responded to the incident. Forest Fire Management Victoria crews responded in support.

The fire is approximately 200-hectares in size.

Two helitaks provided air support at the scene.

There are reports the fire has impacted a number of hay sheds.

The incident was brought under control at 4.57pm and the fire has been controlled.

Crews will continue working over the next few hours consolidating containment lines.

UPDATE: CFA fire investigators attended the scene on 31 December 2020, and are finalising a report that indicates the fire was started by a mechanical fault in a heavy vehicle.
