Participants credit the VLD Certificate IV course for their confidence in leadership, personal growth, and a better understanding of supporting others.
Participants of the VLD Certificate IV in Leadership and Management course recently gathered to share experiences and insights on how the course is enhancing their leadership capabilities.
Since commencing the course in June 2024, volunteers have completed seven of the 12 units, covering essential topics such as demonstrating leadership and fostering effective workplace relationships. The course schedule is designed to allow minimal study during the December to February fire season, enabling participants to focus on their vital volunteer roles, while still gaining valuable skills.
During the weekend, participants provided feedback on applying their newfound knowledge in real-world scenarios and in their interactions within their community. A key theme was the adaptation of leadership styles. Many have begun to identify their own styles and recognise those of their colleagues, enhancing communication and collaboration within their teams.
Participants expressed growing confidence in their ability to lead effectively across diverse situations, along with significant personal growth, and a deeper understanding of how to support those around them.
As we look forward to the remaining units such as developing emotional intelligence and coordinating business operational plans, it's clear that this course’s impact extends beyond the classroom. Participants are actively integrating their learning into their brigades and community activities, demonstrating that the skills gained are both practical and applicable in everyday situations.
The Certificate IV in Leadership and Management course is designed to equip CFA volunteers with essential skills that enhance their personal and professional lives. We are excited to see how participants continue to apply their learning and look forward to sharing more success stories in the future.
