District 4 station openings

It’s been a busy couple of weekends in District 4 recently with three new stations officially opened, more than 1,300 years of service recognised and three national medals presented.

Milltown fire station was officially opened by MLC Gayle Tierney, Member for Western Victoria. Nineteen members received service awards and three members received National Medals:  Phil Showler 1st Clasp, Colin Mirtschin 3rd Clasp and Bob Bannam 3rd Clasp.

Lyons and Hotspur brigades were officially opened by CFA Board member James Holyman, with 18 members from Lyons being recognised with service awards and 17 service awards presented at Hotspur.

All three stations are the 1A design which include a two-truck bay, toilets and an area to make a coffee, which is a big improvement compared to the old stations. All the stations have water tanks and the brigades have also added some basic furnishings to make to make it a little more comfortable on meeting nights.

Congratulations to the brigades and those who received service awards and National medals.
