Dogs saved from house fire

CFA firefighters rescued two dogs from a burning house in Wedderburn this afternoon (11 June).

The weatherboard home in High Street was fully alight when crews arrived shortly after 12.45pm.

District 20 Operations Officer Bryan Suckling said despite the early call to Triple Zero and the quick response from the brigade, the house was destroyed.

“Crews were able to rescue two pet dogs from the house who got away unscathed,” he said.

“We were worried about the structural integrity of the house, so crews were fighting the fire externally.

“Fire has affected most of the house and a large portion of the roof has caved in. It’s destroyed.”

The fire is not suspicious.

Crews from Wedderburn, Charlton and Korong Vale attended.
