Large shed fire at Doreen

Doreen Fire Brigade was responded to a large shed fire containing cars and farm machinery on Friday 29 September 2017 at around 1.30pm.

Given the volume of smoke issuing as the Doreen pumper tanker approached and the location of the semi-rural property, a radio call was made back to VicFire to “Make tankers five”.

A quick response by Doreen, South Morang, Whittlesea, Arthurs Creek, Mernda and Eltham brigades ensured the fire was contained within the large shed.

The fire, which was started by an angle grinder, was rapidly bought under control by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.

A relay was established to ensure a good supply of water to the firefighters attacking the blaze.

Theory from last year's Pilot Pumps and Hydraulics course was put into practice with great results.

Incident Controller Lt Neale complimented all crews on the fireground for their outstanding work in extinguishing the fire.

Two expensive cars were destroyed in the blaze.

11 CFA vehicles with 39 firefighters, plus Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police, attended the fire.
