Dramatic rope rescue for trapped boy

CFA members in Mildura and other emergency services were involved in a dramatic high angle rescue on Good Friday.

A 12-year-old- boy fell 10 metres through the roof of a pumping station suffering broken legs and a broken arm. Emergency services had to use a Rabbit Tool (hydraulic splitter) to force entry.

Ambulance Victoria assessed that the boy could not be moved down the stairs so CFA crews along with SES and VicPol set up a rope to perform a high angle rescue to lift the patient from the floor to the first floor gantry and get him out of the building.

The boy is now recovering in hospital.
