Drysdale farm shed fire

Update @ 12:45pm: Crews have worked to contain the blaze, which is now under control.

A fire investigator will attend the property to help determine the cause of the fire.

CFA is currently battling a large shed fire on Drakes Road in Drysdale.

Crews arrived to find the farm shed, which is approximately 20x30 metres, engulfed by flames.

District 7 RDO Pat Geary said firefighters used defensive measures to protect up to four nearby buildings.

“The shed contains a mixture of farm equipment including gas cylinders so it’s a difficult fire to attack,” he said.

“Firefighters managed to save a number of chickens in a hutch from an adjoining building.”

The fire is not yet under control.

An Advice message has been issued for nearby residents due to heavy toxic smoke in the area.
