With the extreme wind conditions Victoria will experience tomorrow, CFA is asking residents in East Gippsland to refrain from burning off.
The rest of the state has a Total Fire Ban tomorrow, however East Gippsland residents who are not under Total Fire Ban are still encouraged to refrain from burning off because of the weather conditions.
CFA is encouraging people who have recently burned off to double check that it has been extinguished properly before the weather hits Wednesday morning.
While CFA understands there are no burn-off restrictions in place at this time of year, the community needs to consider the weather conditions and act accordingly.
South East Region Assistant Chief Officer Trevor Owen said temperatures don’t need to be high for fire to spread. The high winds forecast for tomorrow are enough for a fire to take off,” he said.
While CFA encourages the community to clean up around their properties before summer, people need to be aware that burning-off is not suitable in these high wind conditions.
Residents also need to be aware that Fire Restrictions will be in force as of 1am Monday 30th November.
