ESO blood challenge closes for 2016

The 2016 Emergency Services Blood Challenge, conducted from 1 June to 31 August, has now closed with a record number of donations made across the emergency services sector.

CFA and VicPol have run neck and neck with only one donation seperating them at 4pm on Wednesday, but a secret source indicated that the mobile blood unit located in Melton had a crew of CFA personnel with their sleeves rolled up! The Red Cross National Challenge Committee after close on Wednesday will announce the state and national winner(s) on 29 September.

CFA and VicPol were just behind NSW Police for the highest number of national donations, so pending the numbers at Melton it may see CFA in second place.

Thank to all of the district and regional coordinators that assisted with this challenge and in particular the new donors - Red Cross Blood Service registered 74 new CFA donors this this year.

Don't forget to keep your ongoing appointments as part of the RED25 program as these will contribute to the CFA grand total for 2016, which will be announced in January 2017.

Keep rolling up your sleeves and if you are interested in becoming a donor contact Red Cross Blood Service on 13 14 95 and register your donation to RED25-CFA.
