Eynesbury Fire Station official opening

Eynesbury Fire Station was officially opened by Don Nardella MLA, Member for Melton on Sunday, 10 October 2015.

The new station is a significant improvement over the one-bay shed which had minimal amenities.

The new fire station has significant space to house the brigade’s vehicles and includes a meeting room, kitchen and office space.

The project was funded by the Rural Fire Stations Program and cost approximately $730,000. The station was built by MKM Constructions and will enhance the brigade’s ability to respond to their 50+ incidents per year. This will increase as the township grows.

Other distinguished guests in attendance included: Sophie Ramsay CR, Mayor, City of Melton; Samantha Hunter, Board Member, CFA; Trevor Roberts, Operations Manager, CFA District 14; John Anderson, Operations Officer, CFA District 14; Jayson Hirt, Operations Officer, CFA District 14; Graeme Bisby, Group Officer, Mt Cottrell Group; and Jim Cooper, Captain, Eynesbury Fire Brigade.

Eynesbury is continuing to build its brigade, which was established in 2012, to accommodate the growth. Members are undertaking a number of projects including building a shed which was funded by the brigade and various businesses.

“Today [10 October] marks another significant chapter in history as the Eynesbury township’s community comes together to officially open our new fire station,” said Eynesbury brigade Captain Jim Cooper.

“Since 2012, our members have come from humble beginnings where we squeezed our very well-loved 26-year-old fire truck (affectionately known as a Big Red Truck) into a much-appreciated green shed located at the golf range.

We now have a facility that our members can settle in to and call home.”

After the event, the brigade hosted the community as part of CFA Open Day which saw the residents from the Eynesbury area have a tour of the new station as well as participate in children’s activities and gain an understanding of how the fire brigade works.
