CFA crews responded to reports of a carbon monoxide poisoning around 9am today (7 July) at the Lakes Entrance esplanade.
Incident Controller Phil Loukes said three children on a pleasure cruiser had been overcome by suspected carbon monoxide.
A family of five was on board.
“The boat was moored on the other side of the lake, not on the town side, so the family was rescued and brought to the esplanade by Coast Guard,” he said.
“They were then transported by ambulance to Bairnsdale Hospital and are in a stable condition.”
CFA and Coast Guard then travelled out to the vessel to investigate the source of the leak.
Lt Loukes said high levels of carbon monoxide were detected in the cabin.
“Crews ventilated the inside area and continued to monitor it until those levels returned to zero,” he said.
“The source of the leak will be investigated, but we believe engine fumes concentrated in the cabin.”
Crews from Lakes Entrance and Bairnsdale attended.
