FCVs and trucks as fire restriction billboards

This is a very simple and inexpensive way to get our fire restriction message out to our communities - use our FCVs and trucks as mobile billboards.

The idea came from the Whittlesea Diamond Valley Group, Community Safety Workgroup, which comprises the community safety coordinators and brigade members from all eight brigades. They are a really great group of firefighters who have a passion for community safety and sharing their ideas.

The plates are two 300mm by 600mm flexible magnetic plate. They sit one on top of the other.

The first is the main theme message:

'Fire Restrictions'

The second states current situation:

'Now in Place'

They attach to a clean, dust-free metal surface on an FCV or truck and can be trimmed if necessary to fit.

They will not go around ripples as they must attach flat and firmly to maintain the integrity. If the vehicle is likely to travel at high speed on a freeway, tape the leading edge of the plate.

If they are looked after they can be reused for many fires seasons.

We are working on the wording for the end and the beginning of a fire season.

The photo of the FCV door is a great template for a Facebook poster and ties in with what is on the vehicles.

We are talking to our local shires councils, one of which has already agreed to follow our lead and put the plates on their council vehicles.
