Pakenham Fire Brigade was called to a fire in the kitchen at Hungry Jacks Pakenham at around 6.50 this morning (28 May).
The fire was contained to the point of origin thanks to the quick action of the Hungry Jacks staff applying a fire blanket over the deep fryer and a dry chemical extinguisher to smother the electrical fire.
The quick response by fire crews, requiring four members to wear breathing apparatus due to the smoke, ensured the fire hadn’t spread beyond the fryer and was properly extinguished.
Positive pressure ventilation was used to remove smoke from the restaurant keeping damage to a minimum.
Pakenham and Nar Nar Goon fire brigades attended.
