Fire at Monbulk

UPDATE: A fire that burnt approximately four acres at Monbulk late this afternoon is now safe.

An All Clear message was issued around 6.50pm.

CFA Duty Officer Colin Brown said investigators believed the fire began as the result of a burn-off on private property that ran out of control.

A semi-trailer was destroyed but no other assets or properties were damaged.

UPDATE: A fire at Monbulk has been called under control. 

A total of 22 vehicles remain at the scene.

Duty Officer Colin Brown said an aggressive attack slowed the spread of the fire.

"The fire is under control but still burning in heavy vegetation," he said.

"We hit the fire hard and fast. Thanks to the great work by crews at the scene in gaining control of the fire."

David Hill Road is closed.

An Advice message has been issued.

EARLIER: CFA firefighters are responding to a grass and scrub fire on David Hill Road in Monbulk.

CFA District 13 Duty Officer Colin Brown says the fire, which is around two hectares, is burning in a heavily vegetated area.

A Watch and Act message has been issued.

It’s understood a semi-trailer was involved in fire.

Around 18 vehicles are attending with two aircraft on the way.
