Fire comes to brigade

At around 1pm yesterday (9 November) 1st Lt Phil Clayden was sitting quietly at the Bacchus Marsh Fire Station completing some paperwork when there was a knock at the door.

When he opened the door, he was greeted by two truck drivers who reported that their truck was on fire and they had driven it to the fire station for help.

Phil immediately called the job into ESTA, raised the station door and put their pumper into action as backup crews arrived on scene to assist.

“It isn’t very often that the fire comes to us,” Phil said. “We do suggest, in the case of a vehicle fire, that if possible the vehicle is moved off the road as soon as it is safe to do so and call 000 for assistance.

"We were pleased to be able to help them, but as a fully volunteer brigade, it was fortunate that someone was in attendance at the station.
