Fire destroys home in Doreen

A large fire has destroyed a home in Melbourne’s north east.

Firefighters were called to a structure fire on Yan Yean Road, Doreen at 4.30pm on Tuesday (22 January).

Crews from Doreen Fire Brigade arrived on scene to find a fully-involved house fire which had spread to dry grass surrounding the semi-rural property.

An additional 27 CFA units, including four Breathing Apparatus teams, were called in from surrounding brigades to bring the blaze under control.

SES, Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police were also in attendance.

The fire was deemed under control at 6.08pm. 

No injuries were reported. Investigators will return to the scene today to determine the cause of the fire.
