Fire Safety Pledge – ready to launch!

Members of the public have the chance to win one of five $200 Bunnings vouchers just by being better prepared for the threat of fire when the CFA Fire Safety Pledge is launched on Thursday 8 October.

When taking the pledge, residents can choose the specific fire safety actions they will take, which includes options relating to both summer and home fire safety.

Anyone who takes the pledge during the competition period can also select a local CFA brigade that they wish to support. This allows for CFA brigades to compete for $1000 cash prizes just by getting the most members of its community to take the pledge online. Different brigade competition categories including ‘Per-Capita’ and ‘Pop <100' give even the small CFA brigades the chance to compete for one of the $1000 cash prizes.

The 8 week competition will run from Thursday October 8 at www.thefiresafetypledge.com.au

Acting Executive Manager of Community Capability, Andrew Andreou said today “this initiative is very different for CFA. We are trying to engage audiences that perhaps we traditionally haven't. We are treating it as a pilot 8-week competition this year to see how it goes. We know that our local brigade members have a really powerful voice in their community. We think that by providing brigades with an incentive ($1000 prizes), they will share the pledge locally and we can get more community members to be aware of the risks and take action.”

The three brigade competition categories are:

  1.        Overall – The brigade with the total most number of pledges
  2.        Per-Capita – The brigade with the most number of pledges by population
  3.        Pop <100 –The brigade with the total most number of pledges for brigades serving a population of less than 100 people

$1000 is available to be won by a brigade in each category.

The Fire Safety Pledge is an initiative developed by the Member Engagement Volunteer Reference Group.
