Over 3,000 pledges have been made in the opening days of CFA’s Fire Safety Pledge competition. Sunbury (D14), Tallarook (D12) and Dartmouth (D24) Brigades have made promising starts in the three respective brigade categories with 3 x $1,000 cash prizes on offer for brigades.
The competition targets the public to take action to be better prepared for fire, and brigades have another seven weeks to try to get members of their community involved. You can check the Brigade Leader Boards here to track your brigade’s progress.
Being an online competition, the brigades with an existing online presence seem to have started strongly and are making good connections when their community is already online. Some ideas to increase the number of pledges assigned to your brigade are:
- Have each brigade member email the competition link to their friends, neighbours and work colleagues. Challenge each brigade member to get a certain number of unique pledges.
- Share as an image on your brigade social media pages. Tag in other pages or groups that may be in your community and ask them to share it with their members i.e. a township or community Facebook page, the local Football Club, Rotary Club, local festival or event page.
- Borrow an iPad or tablet and roam the crowd at your open day or community event.
A minor prize will be awarded to the per-capita brigade winner in each CFA district in addition to the major $1,000 cash prizes across three competition categories. Those categories are:
Overall – The brigade with the most number of pledges in total.
Per-Capita – The brigade with the most number of pledges by population.
Pop <100/Tiny Towns –The brigade with the most number of pledges in total for brigades serving a population of less than 100 people.
Members of the public can win one of five $200 Bunnings vouchers as an incentive for them to take the pledge.
