Fireys rescue man from car in water at Keysborough

CFA firefighters have rescued a man after his car overturned into an open drain following an accident in Keysborough last night.

CFA was called to the incident in Springvale Road just after 11pm.

On arrival, firefighters found the car partially submerged in water with the driver trapped inside.

Springvale Senior Station Officer Josey Sensi told ABC it was a dramatic rescue.

“There was a lot of fear for the safety and for the welfare of the gentleman that was within the car, so actions had to be swift,” she said.

“They gave him a real chance, it could have been significantly worse.”

Firefighters removed the patient from the car within five minutes.

Ambulance Victoria transported the man to hospital.
