At 5:06am Saturday morning Fish Creek brigade were alerted to the double storey brick sports building being involved in fire.

When crews first arrived on-scene the 50+ year old building was totally involved in fire. A call was made for 5 additional tankers and they were responded from Foster, Milford, Toora, Yanakie and Meeniyan brigades.

Commander Greg Fisher from District 9 attended and said “Crews did an excellent job containing the fire to the one building and prevented it from spreading to a nearby shed”. FRV’s Ladder Platform from Traralgon is currently helping the brigade and Fire Investigators assess the damage. VicPol are currently in attendance and are working with CFA Fire Investigators and the Arson Squad to confirm the circumstances of the fire which appears to be suspicious.

The building contained the towns sporting history and trophy collection which are irreplaceable.
