Fiskville Inquiry hearings resumed today

The Victorian Parliamentary Inquiry into CFA’s former Fiskville Training College resumed public hearings today.

Witnesses called to provide evidence included Moorabool Shire Chief Executive Officer Rob Croxford, National Toxics Network Senior Adviser Dr Rye Senjen, and representatives from Central Highlands Water and environmental consultancy group Senversa.

Tomorrow the inquiry will hear from Emergency Management Victoria, Environment Protection Authority, Department of Health & Human Services, WorkSafe, and Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources are expected to be called. Dr Roger Drew, senior toxicologist for Tox Consult, is expected to be called Monday.

Meanwhile, some media outlets have continued to publish articles on the “Special Report on production of documents” released last Thursday that related to the access to and production of our documents for the inquiry.

As we unambiguously stated last week, CFA provided all documents requested by the Inquiry to the Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office (VGSO).

VGSO determined some of the documents may be subject to a claim of “executive privilege” by the Government, and therefore all documents must be reviewed accordingly.

While it’s not appropriate for us to provide ongoing commentary on what is happening in the inquiry, we will continue to provide updates on who will be appearing.

Transcripts of previous hearings can be viewed here.
