Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC projects based on community resilience, emergency management capability and policy were the focus of a Research Advisory Forum on 8-9 April.
CFA personal joined other agency members, researchers and industry stakeholders in Sydney to discuss the progress of research into communications and warning, emergency management capability, sustainable volunteering, social resilience, scenario and loss analysis, emergency management governance and economics, policy and decision making.
CFA’s David Nichols, Manager Research and Innovation, said the two days of discussion showed the research underway will be of great benefit to CFA.
“There is plenty of science underway at the CRC that will help CFA members to protect the community.
“Particularly around our capability, the research will help us identify the capabilities we need to invest in now, and to identify future capacity and capabilities in order to work better individually and in a multi-agency capacity in the future.
“We need the best and most efficient coordination possible for our resources in real-time, and the science underway at the CRC will help CFA to achieve this,” said Mr Nichols.
