Four CFA tankers have responded to a grass fire near Little River which started at 10am and burnt through four hectares of grassland.
The fire travelled in an easterly direction towards Bulbans Rd and produced flames up to two metres high, as well as smoke visible across to Werribee.
It was brought under control shortly after 10.30, with early reports suggesting a car fire was the cause. A burnt out car was found at the point of origin.
Rocky terrain posed a challenge for crews working to contain the fire. Little River, Werribee, Anakie, Balliang responded.
