Lake Tyers Aboriginal Trust satellite brigade hosted friends, family and community for a NAIDOC Week barbecue in East Gippsland.
Lake Tyers residents joined their local fire fighters for some fun with Captain Koala and the CFA smokehouse on Saturday 11th July 2015.
East Gippsland brigade members from Lakes Entrance and Toorloo supported fellow members Charmaine Sellings, Ronda Thorpe and Julian Edwards to host a barbecue and fire pit at the Lake Tyers Aboriginal Trust. On hand was resident Steven Tregonning who volunteered to lend his Father Christmas skills to the Captain Koala suit.
Ian Ashcroft of Lakes Entrance was the able photographer who ran a photo booth so that friends and family could take home printed photos of themselves with Captain Koala.
The smokehouse was kindly run by John Upton and neighbouring Lakes Entrance brigade members.
Despite predictions of the 'cold snap' that saw the brigade prepare a fire pit in advance, the weather was perfect.
Lake Tyers satellite brigade sends a huge thank you to CFA members, St John's Ambulance and the Police and all the friends and family who came together to spend the afternoon.
